SCHOOL WITHOUT RACISM - SCHOOL WITH COURAGE

SOR - SMC

We are proud to be a pleasant, friendly school: the doors of the school administration are always open, in the office lush greenery, quiet music and helpful secretaries create a pleasant atmosphere... But there are also topics at our school that we want to address openly, such as Germans who have problems with migrants and vice versa, machos who underestimate girls and girls who freak out too often, 'outsiders' who don't wear branded clothes or don't have the latest cell phone model, or who have any weaknesses or quirks . ..or just have a pimple. We want tolerance and not extremism or even racism.A school without racism is also a school without xenophobia, without violence, without bullying, without sexism, without religious intolerance...

We participate in the SOR project

The international project School without Racism - School with Courage (SOR-SMC) is open to all schools. The Europagymnasium Wörth, the IGS Kandel, the Pamina Center Herxheim and the IGS Rülzheim SOR schools are already in our neighborhood. The project is supported by various democratic organizations: the Federal Agency for Civic Education, the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, from European Social Fund of the EU... Our primary contact was Dr. Una Patzke from the state center for political education in Rhineland-Palatinate in Mainz, whose position has now been taken over by Ms. Anke Lips.

The three statements

I will work to ensure that it becomes a central task of my school to develop sustainable and long-term projects, activities and initiatives to overcome discrimination, especially racism. If violence, discriminatory statements or actions are being used at my school, contact me I am against it and I am committed to finding ways to respect each other in the future in an open discussion of this problem. I am committed to having a project on the subject of discrimination carried out at my school once a year take long-term action against any form of discrimination, especially racism.

signature collection

The signature campaign, in which at least 70% of all people involved in school life (pupils, teachers, staff) signed the above statements, began after the autumn holidays of 2010 and was completed by the end of the 2010 calendar year. The pupils then had to find a sponsor name who took over the SOR sponsorship for the school. We were able to win over the youth and training representatives from the Daimler plant in Wörth for this purpose.

SOR group

As part of quality management, we have formed a QM team at our school with the task of being a school without racism. Its leader is Mr. Müller-Horn. Other contact persons are the tutors and the student representatives of both locations.
